The Arizona Department of Corrections began a Health Education
program in 1995. The Health Education program specializes in the
development, implementation and evaluation of education curriculums,
interventions, and materials such as the Inmate Information Sheets (IIS),
a series of health education handouts specifically developed to
address special educational needs of offenders.
Staff Training facilitates professional training, seminars and
educational resources available in the health care field. The
Professional Resources area publishes a quarterly Inmate Health
Services Newsletter which shares pertinent information, acknowledges
staff achievements, and keeps them up-to-date on professional
