Returning to Work (RTW) After Retirement: (CORP Members only)

Arizona Revised Statutes 38-884. Section J (1 & 2) under the heading Membership of Retirement plan; termination; credited service state that the following conditions shall apply to a retired member of CORP who becomes an employee, in a CORP designated position, subsequent to retirement.

Payment of the retired member’s pension shall be suspended until the retired member again ceases to be an employee. This requirement applies to both full and part time employees.

While employed, the retired member does not make retirement contributions to any State retirement plan and does not accrue additional years of credited service.

When the employee ceases employment with the Department, the member will again receive a pension at the same rate as before becoming re-employed.

NOTE: The above provisions do not apply to retired members of CORP becoming re-employed by the Department in a non-designated job classification. Members in this category come under the statutes established for participants in the Arizona State Retirement System.
