KAIBAB VISITOR GUIDELINES

 

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

All persons, their personal belongings, and vehicles are subject to search while on Department property. Persons refusing to submit to any search will be denied visitation and required to leave Department property immediately and are subject to subsequent suspension. Contraband is not allowed on State property, including but not limited to: weapons or ammunition of any type, illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia, alcoholic beverages (empty or full), ladders, rope, cable, power tools, wire cutters, rakes, etc. Visitors must present photo identification (ID) upon entering the visitation checkpoint. Acceptable forms of ID are: a valid driver’s license, a military identification card, a passport, an official photo identification card of any state of federal agency, or Immigration and Naturalization documentation.

 

DRESS CODE

All clothing shall be clean, worn in good repair, be non-offensive, and within the bounds of common decency.

Visitors are prohibited from wearing any brown-colored clothing that resembles the clothing worn by Department security staff, including khaki-colored clothing, solid light tan or light brown-colored shirts or dark brown-colored pants or slacks.

Shorts, skirts and dresses shall be knee-length, when sitting. Slits in skirts and dresses shall not extend above mid-thigh when seated. Jogging shorts, cut-offs or hip huggers are prohibited.

Visitors shall not wear any article of clothing fabricated with spandex-like material, blue denim material, or clothing that is orange or blue denim in color. Sheer, see-through and/or open-netted clothing and swimsuits are prohibited.

Sleeveless tops, shirts, or dresses; tank, tube, halter, muscle, strapless, and mesh tops of any kind; tops that allow display of bare midriff when arms are raised or when sitting are prohibited. Tops of clothing shall be no lower than the person ’s collarbone in the front and back.

Undergarments and shoes shall be worn at all times. Women’s upper undergarments shall be worn without metal.

No military type pants may be worn; BDU’s, specifically camouflage, black, brown, green, orange, or dessert/winter camouflage.

ALLOWABLE PROPERTY

Personal identification, prescription in the original container, and only in a limited amount needed during the visitation period. One unopened package of cigarettes. A flameless electric lighter is located in the designated smoking section of the Visitation area. Two vehicle keys or one key and a vehicle remote control entry device.

A maximum of $20.00 in coins, in a clear plastic bag/container per visitor.

One engagement/wedding ring, one necklace with religious medallion only, one wristwatch, and one pair of earrings or two visible body-piercing adornments.

INFANT ITEMS

One handheld baby carrier per infant. Strollers or carriers on wheels will not be permitted into the visitation area. One clear-plastic diaper bag per infant, which may only contain; one diaper for each hour of visitation, one change of baby clothing, one blanket no larger than 4ft. x 4ft., one unopened container of baby sanitary-wipes; one small tube of diaper rash ointment; one baby bib; one small plastic spoon used to feed an infant; three clear-plastic baby bottles of milk/formula or equivalent-size unopened, commercially-sealed containers of juice; and four small plastic containers of baby food; and one baby pacifier. Same clothing restrictions apply to infants and children as listed for adults.

VISITATION CONDUCT

Conduct by visitors and inmates shall be quiet, orderly and respectful of others. Unruly behavior and the use of profanity is prohibited. A brief kiss and/or embrace shall only be permitted at the beginning and the end of the visitation period. This shall not be prolonged. While walking around, inmates and their visitor may hold one hand. Visitors and inmates shall remain in the upright position at all times.

Visitors are prohibited from visiting more than one inmate at a time, unless the other inmate is an immediate family member and the visitor is on the inmate’s approved visitation list. Inmates may visit with a maximum of six persons at one time.

The accompanying adult must properly control minor children while on prison property. The accompanying adult is responsible for any damage, undesirable behavior, or mess caused by the minor/minors. No minor will be left unattended. Any minor not accompanied by the parent needs to provide a copy of legal guardianship papers and/or a written notarized statement from legal parents stating who may bring the minor child.

Visitation is a privilege, not a right. Any conduct considered unruly, inappropriate, or an infraction of any of the above mentioned guidelines would result in termination of the visit and/or suspension of privileges.

YOU WILL BE DENIED ENTRY IF:

You are currently suspended from visiting any prison.

Cannot provide proper identification.

Do not meet dress standards.

Are reasonably suspected of being under the influence of intoxicants/drugs.

Are in possession of contraband.

Use abusive language and/or actions, which are disruptive.

Are a minor child not accompanied by an adult or have provided a copy of the birth certificate.

If you leave the visitation area, you may not return.

You or others with you are not on the inmates approved visitation list.

All visitors are required to clear a vehicle inspection, drug detection dog, metal detector, and/or pat search by a staff member of the same gender prior to and/or during visit. If you do not clear, you will not be allowed to visit.

NON-CONTACT/CR

Non-Contact and CR visits will be held on Wednesday and Thursday on Kaibab. CDU non-contact will be held on Tuesday. Appointments will have to be called in and scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. They will be limited to two hours in duration, and only one appointment will be allowed per week. All appointments will be subject to availability of space and staff. Visitors must register within thirty minutes of their scheduled time or the visit will be automatically terminated. If for any reason a visitor is not going to be able to make the appointed time, a courtesy call to cancel is necessary. More than one missed appointment without proper notification will result in suspension of future appointments for up to, but not limited to, a thirty day period.

SPECIAL VISITS

Special visits are initiated by the inmate through his assigned counselor, (COIII). This should be done at least fifteen days prior to the requested visit. All visits are subject to space limitations and staff availability.
