ADC Staff Killed In The Line Of Duty

Brent Lumley, 33, a Correctional Officer II at the Arizona State Prison Complex - Perryville, was killed March 7, 1997 in the performance of his duties. He had been employed by the Arizona Department of Corrections since January, 1992.

That afternoon Officer Lumley was found stabbed in the San Juan Unit. He was evacuated by helicopter to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The San Juan Unit has since been renamed the Lumley Unit as a memorial.

Officer Lumley is survived by his wife and young son.
