He rose through the ranks as Captain in 1994, where he served as chief of security at ASPC-Eyman and Florence. His administrative experience began in 1996 at ASPC-Safford as Associate Deputy Warden. In 2002, Bartos was appointed as Warden of Yuma, a position he has held for the past three years. Ivan Bartos is considered an expert in emergency preparedness. “It’s an honor to be selected to continue the many security improvements at ASPC-Lewis. It is my intention to have this prison complex and it’s many fine employees viewed as leaders in the corrections community and state government as we continue to find ways to overcome challenges such as staffing shortages,” said Bartos. Bartos replaces Warden Ernest Trujillo who is retiring after 20 years of service to ADC. ASPC-Lewis houses more than 4,100 medium and high custody inmates. It’s located 50 miles southwest of Phoenix on highway 85 near Buckeye. Bartos officially took over as Warden of ASPC-Lewis on March 12, 2005.
