Governor Names Two ADC Employees to Her Leadership Team
Two longtime Department of Corrections employees have been named to the Governor’s Latino Leadership Team. ASPC-Eyman Deputy Warden of Operations Vivian Baltierra and Conrad Luna, deputy warden of operations at ASPC-Safford, have joined the group. The 25 member Latino Leadership team hopes to facilitate events in the Hispanic community to support Governor Janet Napolitano’s initiative and promote Hispanic businesses. “I am really excited about representing the department and the Latino group,” Baltierra said. "I think it is very important that the Latino employees know that they are being represented at the Governor and the Director's level.” Baltierra, a 20-year veteran with ADC, began her career at the department’s juvenile facility in Phoenix. Since then, Baltierra has steadily climbed through the ranks. In February of 2004, Baltierra took over as the deputy warden of operations at ASPC-Eyman. Conrad Luna has worked with ADC for nearly 30 years, spending the majority of that time at ASPC-Florence and Eyman. He too has held many jobs in several different divisions including: security, programs, classifications and community corrections. In July of 2004, he promoted to deputy warden of operations at Safford. “This is a great honor, and it shows that the Director and Deputy Director have confidence in us to represent the department,” Luna said. “I would like to take home to Safford the concept and ideas of the Latino leadership team, and get them to buy in on it, especially those Latino leaders in the community that can give us support when we need it.” |
