ALECA Unveils a Service Dog Memorial On April 7, Arizona Department of Corrections dog handlers and members of the Arizona Law Enforcement Canine Association participated in a dedication ceremony at Wesley Bolin Plaza in Phoenix to recognize Arizona service dogs killed in the line of the duty. More than 100 service dogs and handlers, representing a variety of Arizona Law Enforcement Agencies, were in attendance. The Arizona State Legislature approved the construction of the memorial three years ago. ALECA raised $40,000 in donations to construct the memorial.
