Telemundo's coverage of  Women’s History Month

March is Women’s History Month. The Arizona Department of Corrections recognized exemplary female correctional professionals at a Women’s History Month Celebration on Wednesday, March 29 at the Valley Garden Center in Phoenix.

Speakers for the ceremony included former Governor Rose Mofford and locally renowned author Jana Bommersbach. Terry Gilberg, host of the Terry Gilberg program on NewsTalk 550-KFYI, was the emcee for the ceremony. A number of extraordinary state correctional employees were  recognized at this celebration for their exceptional service.

The women who serve in the Arizona Department of Corrections help build safer communities, and serve as exemplary role models at work and throughout the state. Today, women make up 34.8 % percent of the department’s workforce and serve in every capacity at headquarters, in the correctional facilities and in the field, occupying key positions including administrators, correctional and parole officers, investigators, recruiters, health service and programs services.
