Media Promotes Job Fairs

An officer at Lewis cuffs an offender. Currently, there is a 34 percent Correctional Officer vacancy rate at Lewis.

KPHO-Phoenix, channel 5, and KVOA-Tucson, channel 4, are informing the public about the record-high, Correctional Officer vacancy rates in the Arizona Department of Corrections.

KVOA-Tucson will be airing a piece regarding ADC’s vacancy rate on Sunday, August 28 at 5:30 and 10 pm. The story will feature Correctional Officers and Warden Greg Fizer talking about the impact of understaffing throughout ADC and the Tucson complex.

KPHO-Phoenix recently aired a story on the staffing issues facing ADC. They also promoted an August 29th job fair which featured ADC jobs and was co-sponsored by Arizona Career Search and other law enforcement agencies.

ADC will host its own job fair on September 17 from 9am-2pm at ASPC-Lewis on highway 85.

To date, ADC has a 19 percent Correctional Officer vacancy rate statewide and a 34 percent vacancy rate at Lewis.
