ADC Staff provide demonstrations at Saturday Job Fair
September 20, 2005 - Would you volunteer to be hand-cuffed in the name of job research? Attendees of last Saturday's job fair, held from 9am - 2pm at ASPC-Lewis, willingly did just that. Some were participants in enactments of the procedure followed to hand-cuff an inmate, and all were given the opportunity to watch several other types of demonstrations, including mock inmate searches conducted by a canine and his handler, as well as perimeter tours and Tactical Support Unit demonstrations. Staff members were present from RUSH, ADC Staffing, ASPC-Lewis and Juvenile Corrections.
Several qualified applicants successfully completed the written competency examination and will be contacted by ADC recruitment staff. Interest in the event was generated by advertising aired on several Phoenix-area radio stations. Additionally, a number of recent publications and broadcasts spotlighting ADC's increasing vacancy rate assisted in driving traffic to the job fair. Future ADC job fairs are being planned at various state prison locations in conjunction their surrounding local communities. In the meantime, anyone interested in applying for a position with the Arizona Department of Corrections should visit the Arizona State Jobs Website at http://www.AZStateJobs.org, and search on the keyword "ADC".
