Victim Services Quarterly Meeting

Director Dora Schriro speaks to the ADC crime victims committee at their quarterly meeting.

The Arizona Department of Corrections is continually finding new ways to be more responsive to its number one constituents: crime victims.

On August 22, members of the ADC crime victims committee met at their quarterly meeting. The committee, made up of crime victims, Department staff and representatives from state and local victim assistance programs, discussed such issues as victim notification, restitution collection, impact on crime victim classes and  Restorative Justice.

On the agenda for Victim Services:

  • A creation of a Restorative Justice calendar. Also, Dan Levey, administrator for Victim Services, discussed the development of a database, which will allow ADC to efficiently track statistics and information regarding phone calls from victims.

  • A two-day Impact on Crime Victim planning session will be piloted at Florence. On September 20th and 21st, ADC will be having a Train the Trainer session at Florence with facilitators identified by the warden. The Department will be using "subject matter experts" to assist in the process. Eventually, this program will be statewide. It is important to remember that this is not an inmate program. The primary beneficiary is the victim.

  • On September 14th, there will be a Restorative Justice and Office of Victim Services training session from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at COTA in Tucson. If you are interested in attending, please call Greta Mang 602-542-3732.
