The Engineering and Facilities Bureau consists of three sections: Construction Services, Building Services, and Safety and Environmental Services Unit.


Construction Services consults and makes recommendations on plan improvements, design, and coordination on prison construction/modification projects. Work includes construction and construction management of new prisons, construction compliance monitoring for private contracted prisons, renovation/remodeling of ADC's ten prisons; energy usage and conservation monitoring and reporting; developing the annual building capital renewal budget request; maintaining and updating the annual building inventory; and preparation and updating of the Physical Plant Standards Manual.

Building Services provides janitorial and maintenance services; tenant relocations and improvements; parking management; building security; development of leasing agreements; interagency relations relating to tenant and leasing issues; and inmate worker transportation, training, and supervision for four Central Office buildings.

The Safety and Environmental Services Unit ensures state and federal fire and safety standards are maintained in the prisons, and monitors workers'compensation, property and vehicle losses within the department. Manages OSHA issues and insures compliance with OSHA standards.
