Pharmacy Services

The mission of Pharmacy Services in the Arizona Department of Corrections is to provide quality pharmacy care and services to inmates throughout the state. The Department of Corrections offers pharmacists and pharmacy technicians an interesting and professional career. Opportunities exist to exercise professional skills, knowledge, and judgment while providing pharmaceutical care. A pharmacy career is challenging and free from many of the pressures found in retail practice. Arizona Department of Corrections’ pharmacies are located at Phoenix, Goodyear, Buckeye, Florence and Tucson.

In addition to a professional modern environment, the Department can offer pharmacy staff a flexible work schedule. Normally, pharmacy employees do not work evenings, weekends, or holidays, enabling them to pursue other interests or just have more quality time with family and friends. The Department offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid vacation, holidays, sick days, and long and short term disability options.  Pharmacists applying for employment must possess a current unrestricted State of Arizona Pharmacist License.

The Arizona Department of Corrections Pharmacy Program provides clinical pharmacy services, orders pharmaceuticals, maintains inventories, and fills prescriptions. The Pharmacy system services approximately 30,000 offenders in ten institutions statewide. The Pharmacy Program fills over 59,000 prescriptions per month.
