- How do I qualify for rehire?
To be eligible for full rehire rights, you must be appointed to a position within two years of your last day of work, have achieved permanent status, and left in good standing. If you did not achieve permanent status, but still return to work within the two year time frame that you left, you will not have rehire rights, but you will not have to return to the Correctional Officer Training Academy.
- How do I apply?
You can apply by filling out an
[application for employment]
and submitting it to your local
recruitment office or the
Phoenix recruitment office.
- How long does the rehire process take?
Much of the time factor depends
on your availability to
participate in each step of the
process. The rehire
process will generally take 3-6
weeks.
- What will my salary be?
- Will I receive a uniform allowance before I start work?
Uniform allowance will be
included into your pay, the
second pay period of the month.
- Do I have to go to the Correctional Officer Training Academy (COTA) for nine weeks of training?
If you are a former Corrections Officer with less than two years of separation of service, you will not have
to attend COTA.
- Will my years of experience count
toward my pay?
If you have obtained additional
correctional experience, you may
submit the appropriate paperwork
to apply the credited experience
to your pay.
- What status will I have when I return to work?
You will be placed back on Original Probation for 1 year.
- I have to retake my medical/physical exam again?
Yes, currently this is part of
POST requirements.
