CELL BLOCK AT ASPC-FLORENCE DEDICATED TO COII DARREL KASSON

A Staff Sergeant in the Arizona National Guard died in Operation Iraqi Freedom

 

 

 

Phoenix, Ariz – One year ago on March 4, 2007, Correctional Officer Darrel Kasson, an exceptional member of the Arizona Department of Corrections for nearly 18 years, and an Arizona Army National Guardsman for 20 years, was killed in Iraq when Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded near his military vehicle.

 

The Arizona Department of Corrections will be renaming Cell Block Six (CB-6) to Cell Block Kasson. Kasson worked there before his deployment to Iraq with the Arizona Army National Guard-259th Engineer Company.

 

Officer Kasson joined the Department on October 30, 1989 and served with distinction in the City of Florence at ASPC-Florence and ASPC-Eyman throughout his career.
