ADC employees recognized for work with crime victims
Phoenix, Az – Two victims’ advocates with the Arizona Department of Corrections received top awards for their service and commitment to crime victims.
Dan Levey, of Phoenix, received the 2009 Attorney General’s Distinguished Service Award for Public Policy. Levey, whose brother was murdered in 1996, serves as the Victims’ Services administrator at ADC.
Gilbert resident Lydia Johnson, a 32-year ADC employee, received Attorney General’s Distinguished Service Award for Advocacy and Direct Service in the ceremony. Johnson serves as the victim notification manager and keeps victims aware of news concerning inmates.
“It is great to see Dan Levey and Lydia Johnson recognized for the wonderful service they provide victims during difficult times,” Gov. Jan Brewer said.
The pair received the award Wednesday from Attorney General Terry Goddard. This week, Arizona is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Victims’ Rights Week.
“I have seen Dan and Lydia’s dedication to assisting crime victims first-hand and I am proud of the work they do,” ADC Director Charles Ryan said. “Assisting victims is one of my top priorities and Dan and Lydia show great care when doing their jobs.”
