ADC employee wins 10 grand

February 3, 2010

An Arizona Department of Corrections employee won $10,000 in the 2009 State Employees Charitable Campaign (SECC) prize drawing.  Ten state employees, who had donated at least $26 to the SECC, were chosen at random to be part of the grand prize event.  On Jan. 13, CO II Pamela Pero, ASPC-Florence/East Unit, along with ASPC-Safford employees OHN Bill Tillman and CO II Richard Dutt, joined seven other state employees at the Salazar Kia dealership in Avondale to try their luck at winning a new car, donated by Salazar Kia or two cash prizes, donated by the Canyon State Credit Union.

Each contestant was given a key to a new Kia Rio and one by one tried his or her key without success until the 10th person, Denise McConaghy, with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, used her key to turn the ignition on her brand new car.

After the car was given away, CO II Pero was drawn as the $10,000 winner and Monica Phillips with ADEQ, won $5,000.  The contestants who didn’t win the car or cash prizes were presented with gift bags filled with donated coupons and gift cards.
