Phoenix Polar Plunge

March 26, 2010

The "Bonzi Speed Slides" at Golfland Sunsplash in Mesa await the Polar Plunge Superhero Challenge.

On March 6, Special Olympics Arizona and the Arizona Law Enforcement Torch Run hosted the Phoenix Polar Plunge Superhero Challenge at Golfland Sunsplash in Mesa.  Superheroes from all walks of life, including Special Olympics athletes, ADC staff, law enforcement officers, families, friends and fans, plunged down the “Bonzi Speed Slides” into an ice filled pool to support Special Olympics Arizona!

Representing the Department of Corrections were Lt. Patricia M. Cruz, ASPC-Safford/Tonto Unit, who came as her Super Hero alter ego “THE SUPER TEAPOT.”  Also on hand was CO II John Risch, ASPC-Florence/Complex Mail Room, who appeared as "LETR MAN."

The Phoenix Polar Plunge raised about $8,000 and more donations are being received.
