Cop On Top event in Mesa raises over $800

May 5, 2010

For the second year in a row, an ADC Corrections Officer has braved 90-degree temperatures and the overwhelming aroma of freshly baked donuts for the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) to benefit Special Olympics Arizona.
CO II John Risch, from ASPC-Florence, spent Saturday, April 24 to Monday, April 26 on the roof of the Krispy Kreme Donuts in Mesa in a marathon “Cop On Top” event, raising over $800 for LETR by selling T-shirts and collecting donations from customers.

On Monday, CO II Risch, disguised as his superhero alter ego LETR Man, was joined in his fundraising efforts by two well-known Valley icons, Baxter the Bobcat, mascot for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Howler, mascot for the Phoenix Coyotes.

A bucket on a rope helped in bringing donations to the roof for safekeeping.                     One of the T-shirts available for sale during the two-day event.
