Safford Law Enforcement Torch Run

The Southeast Arizona Law Enforcement Torch Run took place on April 27. Corrections officers and staff from ASPC-Safford and law enforcement from the Gila Valley carried the torch from the main gate at the prison to Firth Park, where the torch was passed onto Graham County Sheriff’s Office personnel.

ADC/LETR Coordinators Lt. Cruz, CO IV Chaplin and CO II Hill say 17 members of the prison’s Tactical Support Unit joined 20 other ADC employees to carry the Special Olympics torch, with TSU marching in formation for the nearly 11–mile route. Others walked, ran or rode horses, bicycles or ATVs.

Through staff and inmate fundraisers ASPC-Safford raised around $5,300 for the LETR and Special Olympics Arizona.
