Winslow Law Enforcement Torch Run

June 18, 2010

On April 26, ASPC-Winslow participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run event. Twenty staff from the Apache Unit began at Hwy 180, milepost 383 and ended 11 miles later at milepost 394, where they handed off the torch to the Springerville Police Department. Everyone then went to Ramsey Park in Springerville where a BBQ was held for the participants, athletes and their families.

Kaibab, Coronado, and Complex staff also participated in the LETR Walk/Run/Bike. They were joined by athletes, citizens, and Winslow PD staff. AZ DPS and Navajo County Sheriff’s Office assisted in escorts. The walk began from the Winslow Police Department and ended at the La Posada Hotel. At La Posada, four ADC staff, including CO II Gardner, Operation’s Program Systems Administrator Chuck Manning, CEPT Gerry Shouse and CO II Smith, along with six Winslow PD staff, took the torch and biked 40 miles to Holbrook AZ where it was passed onto to Navajo County Sheriffs Office and Holbrook PD.

DW Heather Pruett, who was the ADC/LETR Coordinator for this event, says so far ASPC-Winslow has raised approximately $2,800 for the LETR and Special Olympics Arizona.
