2011 Annual Hoops and Coin Classic
November 16, 2011
The first Annual ADC Hoops and Coin Classic took place on the Phoenix Suns court at U.S. Airways Center on Oct. 23. ADC staff from around Arizona competed for the trophy and bragging rights for next year. Sixteen teams from Community Corrections, Phoenix, Perryville, Winslow, Tucson, Yuma, Florence, Lewis and Eyman Complexes came to the tournament, which benefited the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Arizona. Lewis #3 was crowned Champions after a buzzer-beating shot went in to defeat Eyman Mix in the title game.
The coin challenge was won by ASPC-Tucson which raised more than $1,650. ASPC-Perryville, Central Office, and ASPC-Yuma also contributed to the coin collection of nearly $2,000. Entry fees and tickets to attend the event raised the total to over $4,000 in donations.
This event was a great success because of several professionals coming together and having fun for a great cause. ADC Public Information Officer Bill Lamoreaux was the organizer of the event, assisted by Deputy Wardens Heather Pruett and Juli Jackson, CO IV Brian Roberts and Scott VanVleet and Sgt. Krystal Hutchinson.
