Winslow Honor Guard joins community in remembering 9/11

September 19, 2012

The Arizona Department of Corrections was invited to be part of a local community event on Sept. 11. The ASPC-Winslow Honor Guard participated in a memorial ceremony to those who lost their lives in the 9/11 terrorist attack. The event also commemorated the arrival of the World Trade Center beams, which are a permanent memorial on the east end of Winslow.

The remembrance event was broadcast live by the local Winslow radio station and a fireworks display signaled the close of the ceremony. It is estimated about 250 people attended.

The members of the ASPC-Winslow Honor Guard included Instructor Sgt. Timothy Farley, Cadence caller CO II Charley Smith, Riflemen CO II Shawn Simpson and CO II Kent Graymountain and Flag Bearers CO II Matthew Theobold and CO II Steven Sauceda.
