ADC is top LETR donor again

September 24, 2012

The Arizona Department of Corrections is again named the top Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraising agency. Between August 15, 2011 and July 31, 2012, the Department contributed $170,000 to the LETR and Special Olympics Arizona. This amount helped LETR/SOA reach $750,000 in cash and donations for the first time. This is the third straight year that ADC has been the top fundraising agency in the state.

ADC continues the legacy of being one of the top fundraising agencies by sponsoring and participating in annual events like Poker Runs, Polar Plunges, ‘Cop on Top’, ‘Tip A Cop’, Fire Truck Pulls, Triathlon, staff donations, inmate donations and the torch run before the summer games.

The Department could not have achieved the honor of again being the top LETR fundraiser without the hard work of dedicated staff around the state. Five state prisons raised more than $20,000 each. ASPC-Tucson raised over $20,500, ASPC-Florence raised over $21,600, ASPC-Winslow raised over $25,000, ASPC-Eyman raised nearly $33,000 and ASPC-Perryville raised over $34,000.

The mission of the Arizona Law Enforcement Torch Run is to raise funds for, and awareness of Special Olympics statewide. To further the Special Olympics philosophy, we will carry the Torch representing the Flame of Hope and dedicate ourselves to helping Special Olympics throughout Arizona.
