Call for Presenters


Women Working in Corrections and Juvenile Justice
11th National Conference
September 10, 2006 – September 13, 2006

Women Working in Corrections and Juvenile Justice is pleased to issue a call for presenters for the 11th National Conference scheduled to be held in Phoenix, Arizona. Presentations should pertain to the following topics:
 
  • Correctional Leadership and Ethics – Correctional leaders, representing local, state and national jurisdictions, will address leadership challenges, skills, styles and strategies. Incorporated into their discussions will be examples of the myriad of ethical issues they face on a daily basis and the impact on their decision making.
     

  • Professional Development – Presenters will address core competencies and skill development strategies to help participants take charge of their own professional development. Presenters will also address agency responsibility for staff development and discuss how participants can incorporate agency resources in their own professional growth.
     

  • Personal Growth and Wellness – Presenters will discuss health/wellness issues that women face in all aspects of their lives.
     

  • Evidence-Based Programming – Presenters will address evidence-based practices to include programs or practices that have consistently demonstrated a positive pattern of results.
     

  • Children and Families The Art of Juggling – Presenters will discuss The Art of Juggling, which includes:


    • Working

    • Household duties

    • Marriage commitments

    • Motherhood

    • Spiritual wellness

    • Relationships in general
       
  • Celebrating Successes – Presenters will discuss personal, professional, educational and social successes that have affected them, their community, workplace and civic groups.

Submission Guidelines

Persons interested in submitting a proposal for consideration should provide the following information:
  • Length of Workshop: Workshop, 90 minutes maximum.
     

  • Workshop Title: A snappy title that catches the attention of participants and identifies the primary focus of the workshop.
     

  • Workshop Description: A clear, concise, accurate description of the workshop as it will appear in the program (average length is 30 words; submissions in Microsoft Word are preferred).
     

  • Training/Learning Objectives: Describe the measurable skills, knowledge, and/or new capacity the participant will gain as a result of the workshop. List a minimum of three training/learning objectives.
     

  • Faculty Information: Provide name, title, agency, address, phone and email for all proposed faculty. Panel presentation should consist of no more than two or three persons.
     

  • Biography: Include a brief bio for each faculty member. No more than one paragraph.
     

  • Primary Contact: Submit name and complete contact information for person submitting workshop proposal.

Workshop proposals should be received no later than May 31, 2006 and must be received in electronic format in order to be considered. Please note that a one day registration fee of $125.00 is required by all workshop presenters and faculty.
