The following sections support the Deputy Director in carrying out his responsibilities: The Office of Victim Services provides victim focused and victim-friendly services to crime victims and survivors, and Restorative Justice opportunities for offenders to be involved in victim-focused activities that will help them understand the impact of their criminal conduct on crime victims. The office also provides victim services to ADC staff who are victims of crime. Constituent Services/ Inmate Family and Friends Liaison The Inmate Family and Friends Liaison of ADC offers a standard process for receiving, reviewing and responding to complaints from the public concerning inmate related issues. A guidebook is provided to the family and friends of inmates to help answer questions that may arise. Issues discussed in this guidebook are provided as a general guidance. The Office of the Inspector General is comprised of various units responsible for the overall policing of the prison system through criminal, administrative and background investigations, intelligence gathering, and prison audits and policy. The units in this bureau include the Criminal Investigations Unit, Administrative Investigations Unit, Security Threat Group (STG), Special Operations Unit, Background Investigations Unit, Inspections Unit and the Policy Unit. Emergency Preparedness ensures the Department has viable emergency operations plans (EOP) and continuity of operations plans (COOP) in place for each correctional complex as well as for each ADC office building. The Department recognizes the vital role it has in providing for the safety of the citizens it serves as well as its employees and the incarcerated individuals reprimanded to its care. The purpose of these plans is to enhance our ability to mitigate losses, respond quickly, and resume normal business when a disruption occurs - whether technological, natural or human-caused. Annual exercises tests the Agency's emergency response capabilities and ensure all staff are proficient in procedures and practices. |
