ACI's Judi Longmeyer participates in AQA Panel

Judi Longmeyer addresses the panel.

Arizona Correctional Industries' (ACI) Quality and Training Manager Judi Longmeyer recently spoke at a conference hosted by the Arizona Quality Alliance (AQA).

Ms. Longmeyer's presentation, entitled "Building a Quality Culture at ACI," focused on ACI's Customer Satisfaction System, the process for which ACI won AQA's Showcase in Excellence Award on December 15, 2005. (see story)  This award recognizes organizations for specific process excellence.

"Participating in the AQA program was a great exercise and the application process taught us more about our organization," Judi Longmeyer said.  "ADC's current Director has changed the department's direction in a significant way.  We are concentrating on releasing law abiding, productive citizens.  The AQA process helps to teach them that quality has to be everyone's job."

ACI's mission is to create opportunities for offenders to develop marketable job skills and good work habits through enterprises that produce quality products and services for their customers.  They market a variety of inmate-produced items including furniture products, institutional items and consumer products. ACI's website can be viewed at www.aci.azcorrections.gov.

The conference, AQA's 15th Annual Conference on Performance Excellence, was held on March 8 at the Chaparral Suites Resort in Scottsdale.   Keynote speakers were Bob Parsons, President of GoDaddy.com and Curt Coffman, co-author of "First, Break all the Rules."
