Captain Eric Severson of ASPC-Tuscon dies unexpectedly
ADC staff were saddened to learn that a friend and colleague
of theirs for nearly 20 years, Captain Eric
Severson, died suddenly on Monday, January 23, 2006. "All of us are deeply saddened by the sudden and unexpected loss of our good friend and team member, Captain Eric Severson," ASPC-Tucson Warden Greg Fizer said. "Eric's extensive career involved assignments to multiple complexes and touched the lives of many DOC staff across this state. His abundant sense of humor, his quick wit and his ever-present positive outlook on life were hallmarks of his character. He loved his family dearly and always maintained that sense of balance of work commitments and family needs. His loss has created an emotional void at this prison that will be felt for quiet some time." Most recently posted in Echo Unit, Captain Severson was in the process of transitioning to a new position in Minor Unit. Employees at both units have been offered C.I.R.T (Critical Incident Response Team) support for help in dealing with this unforeseen, tragic event. Captain Severson is survived by his wife, former ADC employee Judy Severson, as well as his four children who range in school age from fifth grade to high school senior. Judy Severson's current employer, the University of Arizona Police Department, has set up an account to assist the family during this difficult time. Donations can be made at any Bank of America branch, to account number 004373953301. If you currently are a Bank of America customer, you can also log on to online banking at www.BankOfAmerica.com and transfer funds directly into the account. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, January 28, at the Brings Funeral Home in Tucson. Representatives from several complexes including Safford, Yuma, Douglas, and Florence were present at the funeral. Our thoughts and prayers are with Captain Severson's friends and family. |
