ADC Celebrates Women's History Month
The Arizona Department of Corrections honored some of their top female employees at a recent Women's History Month Celebration. Featured speakers included author Jana Bommersbach and Susie Barr who serves as Governor Janet Napolitano's Law Enforcement Policy Advisor . The event, held in Phoenix at the Valley Garden Center, was emceed by Newstalk-KFYI's Terry Gilberg. Entertainment was provided by The Walden Quintet and Storyteller Gigi Connelly.
Former Governor Rose Mofford made a special appearance, and was presented with an inmate-made bird house, built of Arizona license plates. The national theme of this year's Women's History Month is "Women: Builders of Communities and Dreams." Governor Napolitano said in a letter to the group, "I would like to thank the employees of the Department of Corrections for working so hard to make our state stronger and better. Every DOC employee, lead by Director Schriro, is a builder of communities and dreams." Read the Governor's entire letter. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Director Schriro presented several Dudley Do-Right Awards, which honors ADC Employees who are "caught doing right."
